For decades western culture had taken the place of African culture. Those were the days when people struggled to embrace western culture. They would keep updated with the latest western fashion trends. Very little attention was paid to our African wear let alone the few designers who struggled so hard to fit in an industry that was dominated by westerners. This resulted to a couple of industries losing market and therefore ended up being shut down. The misery has recently come to an end. A lot of attention is being paid to African wear, not only that of ladies but also African wear for men.
Ghanaian men’s fashion has greatly evolved from the traditional African menswear, to modern Ankara dominated styles. Earlier, Ghana fashion for men only comprised the traditional woven shirts. The shirts were later replaced with Ankara shirts, and later Ankara trousers and shirts. Currently, Ankara fabric is also being used for men’s shoes. One of the most common style is Ghanaian African men’s wear.
